Lakers Rumors & News Recap: Behind What Jim Buss is Thinking

Most of the news circulating the Lakers recently have been about trade rumor after trade rumor. Don’t worry, change is coming. But what we haven’t seen very much of is the thoughts of those Lakers staff members who make these decisions. Mitch Kupchak spoke a little during the exit interviews with Mike Brown. Thursday on the “Mason & Ireland Show” on ESPN Radio, Jim Buss had very little to say:

“I’m very disappointed in the season. I thought we were a better team than this, but you can look at it as this was the first year these guys have played together with this coach.

“There’s a lot of things you can look at and build for the future and say they haven’t had the time to gel like other teams.”

Jim Buss isn’t a fan favorite and he has been criticized for some of his decisions. He seems to be on point with Lakers fans, though, when he talks about the high expectations of this year coupled with his disappointment in this season. Living up to Phil Jackson will be tough, and I am sure Jim Buss knows that when it comes to Mike Brown. Regardless, it looks like Mr. Buss is committed to being a championship team and will fight for wins.

Speaking of Mr. Jackson, what is going on with him and the Knicks? Phil was linked to talks with the Knicks, but N.Y. signed Mike Woodson to a three-year contract extension. It has been rumored, however, that Jackson is coming back to the NBA in some capacity or another.
