Brian Shaw, Quin Snyder Finalists in Charlotte Bobcats Coaching Search

With the NBA off-season underway for 28 of the 30 teams in the league, the coaching search has begun for the Orlando Magic and the Charlotte Bobcats.

Arguably the most sought after vacant coaching position in the league right now is with the Magic considering that Orlando has a legitimate superstar in Dwight Howard and a team that can compete as a playoff contender next season and beyond with the current roster. Despite the head coaching position in Orlando being intriguing, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of the franchise with Howard potentially wanting out before next season or leading up to the NBA trade deadline in March.

With that being said, the Bobcats’ vacancy on the sidelines might be the job that some of the big-name coaches currently available could be leaning towards. Obviously, Charlotte hasn’t had much success in the Michael Jordan era and doesn’t exactly have the most talented roster outside of Kemba Walker, but with the right leadership this team might be able to turn it around in the near future.

According to Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine, the coaching search for the Bobcats has been narrowed down to three candidates:

“The Charlotte Bobcats have narrowed their list of head coaching candidates to Jerry Sloan, Brian Shaw and Quin Snyder, according to league sources.”

Utah Jazz legend Jerry Sloan is arguably the most intriguing of the remaining three in terms of experience, but former Lakers assistant Brian Shaw and current Lakers assistant Quin Snyder has peeked Jordan’s interest.

All three of the remaining head coaching candidates for the Bobcats will meet with Jordan over the next week or so.

Even if Shaw isn’t selected by Jordan to become the new head coach in Charlotte, the consensus is that Shaw is the favorite to land the job in Orlando. Needless to say, Shaw is in a great position right now with a solid chance of finally becoming a head coach in the NBA before next season.
