What Jersey Number Will Steve Nash Wear With the Lakers?

They emerged all over the internet the second news broke out that Steve Nash was traded to the Los Angeles. Whenever you refreshed your Twitter and Facebook feeds, new ones popped up. I’m talking about photoshopped pictures of Steve Nash in a Lakers jersey. Whether it was on a meme or someone one on Twitter getting creative, Lakers fans already have an image of Nash in the purple-and-gold.

However, how do these people know which number Nash will host on his Lakers jersey? In case you may not know, there is a number 13 jersey in the rafters at Staples and it belongs to Wilt Chamberlain. Nash has worn the number 13 throughout his NBA career, but he will not be wearing it in Los Angeles.

So, what about number 11, the same one that he had donned in his early years playing basketball? Nash used that number during his tenure at Santa Clara University and is levels below it. This will likely be the number Nash uses with the Lakers unless he wants to something fresh in Los Angeles.

When asked about it on an interview with Max Kellerman on 710 ESPN Radio Thursday morning, Nash didn’t reveal which way he was leaning.

“I have to think it through,” Nash said. “I noticed last night that Wilt (Chamberlain) wore 13. With all the Lakers jerseys that are retired we’ll have to figure it out.”

However, no matter which number Nash chooses, the players will still be the same. The Lakers greatly improved their chances of winning the championship with Steve Nash and he is already a fan-favorite in Southern California.
