Andrew D. Bernstein to Photograph USA Basketball Olympic Training Camps

On July 29, the 2012 Olympics will officially get underway for Kobe Bryant and Team USA as they strive to win a second consecutive gold medal. Even though the Americans are the favorites to come out on top in London, England, there’s a chance that Team USA will be given a run for their money with Spain threatening to use their size and length led by Pau Gasol to get the best of Coach K’s squad.

Before the Americans begin their campaign for another gold medal, Team USA will be photographed by Andrew D. Berstein during training camp in Barcelona, Spain (July 20-25) leading up to the first game against France on July 29.

Back in 1992, Berstein photographed Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and the “Dream Team” in Barcelona. 20 years later, Berstein will be doing it again in a new era of basketball with big-names like LeBron James, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant and Kobe being the players photographed in Barcelona.

Berstein talked about his experiences with the current Team USA and “Dream Team” in a press release:

“The USA Basketball training camps are like nothing else,” says Bernstein, a 30-year veteran to professional sports photography, “From Bird, Magic and Jordan in ’92, to Kobe and LeBron and all the players of today, you get to see the absolute best-of-the-best prepare to represent our country with great pride.”

As of right now, Team USA is favored to dominate the competition in the 2012 Olympics with only Spain potentially being a challenge for arguably one of the most talented basketball teams ever assembled.

The constant comparisons to the “Dream Team” will almost certainly continue throughout training camp and during the Olympics, but there’s no question that most people believe that Team USA is well on their way to winning another Gold medal this summer.
