Mike Brown Talks About Reaction After Blockbuster Trade

Everyone in Lakers Nation was beyond happy when the news broke out that the team acquired the best center in the NBA, Dwight Howard. The Lakers players still on the team were looking forward to great success with their new teammate, but no one was more ecstatic than the head coach Mike Brown.

Pro Basketball Talk writes about Brown’s reaction after he received the breaking news, and let’s just say the coach really liked the trade. With Howard now dominating the paint, the Lakers have the best starting five in the league and this is no doubt Brown’s most talented roster.

“I got a little excited. I tried to jump up and down, but my mind was telling me to do something that my body wouldn’t allow me to do. I almost pulled my hamstring sitting down. I don’t know if that’s ever happened to anybody, but I was so excited that my leg tensed up. I almost tore my hamstring. So I got up slowly and gave him and Jim Buss a hug,” Brown said.

“That might be the first hug they’ve gotten from their coach, ever, when it comes to a trade happening.”

However, with all that talent and skill level on a roster comes a lot of pressure. Unfortunately for Brown most of the pressure will now fall on his shoulders. Critics will rip him apart if he cannot win a title with this team and get these players to work together. Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat had to endure the same scrutiny and now it’s time for Brown to live through the nightmare.

Brown may have celebrated after he found out the Lakers acquired Howard, but now it is time to figure how to make this team a well running machine that can compete for a championship.
