NBA News: Chris Bosh Open to Playing Center Position

The Los Angeles Lakers have the best center in the NBA in Dwight Howard and not many big men can match up well against him. Howard is physically more dominant than the other centers in the league and his athletic skills resemble those of a guard. With the Lakers, Howard is hoping to create a lasting legacy and help the franchise become NBA champions once again.

The Lakers’ biggest obstacle in their title quest will be getting by the defending NBA champions, the Miami Heat. The Heat have their own ‘Big Three’ and the man in the middle is Chris Bosh. Bosh’s natural position is at the power forward position, but ESPN writes that the Heat star is willing to play some center position this upcoming season.

“It’s [the center position] becoming natural to me,” Bosh told ESPN.com on Thursday. “I have a very unique opportunity to do something very special for myself and my team. I think all the time that you have to evolve and get better. This is me evolving as a player.”

The Lakers and Heat will not play each other any time soon, but a matchup in the Finals is very likely. If Bosh continues to play as the starting center, there is no doubt he will have trouble against Howard. Howard is just a bigger body and there is no way Bosh can contain Howard and his size.

Bosh played a little at the center position in the post-season, but he never had to guard someone like Howard. If the Lakers end up playing the Heat in June and Bosh is on Howard, the Lakers will have an easy time dominating the paint.
