World Peace: I Don’t See ‘Anybody’ Getting Past Us

The Los Angeles Lakers are the most talented team in the NBA on paper, with a starting five consisting of Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Metta World Peace, Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard. Although the Lakers will have to work on their chemistry on the court, there is no doubt this team will be one of the favorites to battle for the NBA title in June.

World Peace is the least talked about starter on the Lakers, but he is certainly not afraid to voice his opinion. In an interview with ESPN Radio, World Peace spoke about the Lakers’ chances next season. Even though the NBA Finals aren’t until June, World Peace does not see any team interfering with the Lakers’ championship aspirations.

“With the way the Lakers are looking this year, I don’t see anybody getting past us this year at all.”

The Lakers will likely face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, and the young Thunder squad can certainly beat the Lakers. The young stars in Oklahoma used their explosiveness and speed to beat the Lakers in 2012, but it’s a safe bet that if they meet in 2013, the series will be much closer.

There is also the Miami Heat, the defending NBA champions who may meet the Lakers in the 2013 Finals. The Heat have a talented starting five of their own and a Lakers-Heat battle will be one for the ages.
