Jordan Hill, Antawn Jamison Impress in Lakers Full-Court Scrimmage

With training camp right around the corner, the Lakers are preparing themselves by participating in a variety of drills and practice regiments at the team practice facility in El Segundo.

Recently, players like Jordan Hill, Antawn Jamison, Metta World Peace and others showed up and played a 5-on-5 game, and Mike Trudell from Lakers.com was there to report on the action.

According to Trudell several players impressed in the scrimmage, particularly Jordan Hill.

Jordan Hill looked very good in the scrimmage. While watching him dunk, rebound and even hit some face up jumpers, assistant coach Darvin Ham said he expects Hill to have a fantastic year off L.A.’s bench, backing up Howard and Gasol with his constant energy and activity at both ends that earned him playoff minutes last season.

Hill, who was traded to the team last March, made a name for himself with his hustle and rebounding ability late in the regular season and in the playoffs before re-signing with the team over the summer.

Trudell also mentioned that newly acquired Antawn Jamison also looked impressive in the team’s scrimmage.

You can see almost immediately why (Jamison) averaged 19.5 points per game for his career. The guy just has a knack for the bucket, whether it’s utilizing his unique array of floaters and leaners, or finding the space in the half court to get himself open for a jumper. He told us how excited he is about the team vibe he’s already feeling, with new/hungry blood from himself, Nash, Howard and Jodie Meeks joining the likes of Bryant with a championship in mind. Jamison can’t stop smiling as he walks around the facility.

This is good news for the Lakers, who will need the contributions from both Hill and Jamison off the bench if they want to be successful this season. Even with the additions of Howard and Steve Nash, strengthening their bench was crucial after having one of the most unproductive second units in the league last year.
