Poll Results: Who Should Get Minutes with Steve Blake Out

The Los Angeles Lakers have an elite point guard in Steve Nash and for the first time Kobe Bryant will have an All-Star guard in his back-court. Nash will likely get the chunk of the minutes at the point guard position, but at the latter stage of his career, Nash will need some time on the bench.

Steve Blake will be the primary backup for Nash this season, a capable player who will provide much needed rest for the future Hall of Famer. However, Blake will be sidelined for approximately three weeks due to a foot injury, meaning someone else may have to take his role in that time.

Lakers Nation asked readers on our Facebook page who they thought should get the majority of the minutes as backup point guard with Steve Blake injured.

Poll Results:

Total 996 votes

  • Chris Duhon- 332 votes
  • Darius Morris- 73 votes
  • Andrew Goudelock- 561 votes

The majority of Lakers Nation sided with the second-year player, Goudelock, the 46th overall pick in the 2011 Draft. Goudelock showed some great promise last season with the Lakers, despite his inconsistent minutes. Although Goudelock is not the greatest ball handler, he does do a great job spreading the floor. Goudelock showed great skill as a three-point shooter and is someone the Lakers can use moving forward.

Chris Duhon was a member of the Orlando Magic with Dwight Howard, and the two will start a new chapter in their NBA careers in Los Angeles. Duhon has never really proven himself as a capable starting point guard, but has been a reliable backup. With Blake, Duhon will be getting some minutes on the court, but his work ethic during the season will determine if he will get the thumbs up from Mike Brown later on.

Darius Morris was also a Lakers draft pick in 2011, coming in at 41st overall. Morris also got inconsistent minutes last season with the Lakers, but has the potential to be a solid player and there is still a plethora of years ahead of him.
