Lakers Rumors & News Recap: Herniated Disks Are Contagious

Herniated disks seem to be “the thing” for Lakers centers as Jordan Hill is the latest Lakers player to suffer from one. Hill suffered the back injury during the Lakers’ pre-season opener against the Golden State Warriors and which turned out to be a herniated disc in his back. Looks like Robert Sacre will be starting again for the next pre-season game.

Training camp is one thing; being able to test the rookies and play Greg Somogyi and Sacre is alright in pre-season games. But once the regular season starts, the Lakers are going to need their top players in Hill and Howard.

There is some good news, however. According to reports, Hill’s injury isn’t as bad as previously believed, and he will return to the L.A. lineup later this month. This translates to a full recovery by the beginning of the regular season.

Hill isn’t the only one that looks promising. Dwight Howard has been cleared for full contact 5-on-5 scrimmages, which is a good sign for his back, and the Lakers organization, that he will be playing very soon during competition. Both Hill and Howard are expected to be ready by the time the regular season opens on Oct. 30th.

It’s not too late to think up your possible winning caption for LN’s 2K Sports NBA 2K13 Caption Contest. The contest will be open until 5:00 PM PST on Wednesday, Oct. 10th. Two lucky fans the opportunity to win a brand new copy of NBA 2K13, the best basketball video game on the planet.
