Lakers Assign Rookie Robert Sacre to D-Fenders

The Los Angeles Lakers have announced today that they have re-assigned rookie forward/center Robert Sacre to the NBA Development League. Sacre has been assigned to the L.A. D-Fenders for the second time this season.

Sacre is a 7-0 center from Gonzaga, and was the 60th overall pick selected in the NBA 2012 Draft by the Lakers.  While at Gonzaga he was ranked second all-time in the schools history in career blocks with 186. In his senior year with the Bulldogs Sacre was named the 2012 WCC Defensive Player of the Year, and was a All-WCC First-Team honoree. He averaged 11.6 points, six rebounds and one block.

This season with the Lakers he has appeared in eight games averaging two points, two rebounds, one assist and two blocks. Despite practicing with the Lakers on Tuesday, Sacre will be present at the D-Fenders season home opener. Sacre will be playing along former Laker teammate Darius Johnson-Odom, who was also  re-assigned to the D-Fenders earlier this week.

The D-Fenders 2012-2013 season tips off tonight versus the Idaho Stampede. Game time is set for 7:00 PM at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.
