Lakers News: Steve Blake Out Another Two Weeks With Abdomen Strain

As if Steve Nash’s leg injury wasn’t bad enough with the recent news of the 38-year-old unable to job, Blake’s injury will force new head coach Mike D’Antoni to continue using second-year man Darius Morris and veteran Chris Duhon at the point guard position moving forward.

Kobe Bryant has been spending a lot of time in absence of Nash and Blake running the show in the backcourt. The five-time NBA champion has been playing well as of late with the ball in his hands more often then not, but the team’s true potential has yet to shown without Nash as the floor general and Blake backing him up off the bench.

More bad news surfaced on Wednesday about backup point guard Steve Blake according to the following press release:

Lakers guard Steve Blake was examined today by Dr. Steven Yoon and had an MRI exam.

The exam confirmed that Blake still has an abdominal strain. As a result, he will be out at least another two weeks.

Blake was originally diagnosed with the abdominal strain on November 12 and has missed the last eight games with the injury.
