Lakers News & Rumors Recap: Sick Kobe Drops 40; Sacre Sent Down

The Los Angeles Lakers had a brilliant performance against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday after losing two straight to the Sacramento King and Memphis Grizzlies. Unfortunately, the streaky Lakers couldn’t keep up their winning ways against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday with yet another disappointing loss on the season, dropping them below .500 with a 7-8 record.

Kobe Bryant put on a show, despite suffering flu-like symptoms, with a game-high 40 points and 10 rebounds. Although the offensive numbers were impressive for Kobe, the five-time NBA champion committed 10 turnovers in the loss and was baffled by his performance after the game.

In other news, the Lakers sent rookie center Robert Sacre down to the Los Angeles Defenders on Tuesday. Despite being a fan favorite and a useful backup if Dwight Howard suffers any setbacks with his back during the season, the Lakers opted to send Sacre and fellow rookie Darius Johnson-Odom to the D-Fenders.
