NBA News: Kobe Bryant Cannot See Himself as an NBA Owner

Kobe Bryant is someone that can do almost anything on the basketball court; however, Bryant cannot see himself working in the front office.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend spoke to Bloomberg News and he talked about how he would handle an ownership role for an NBA team. Bryant is leaning towards the end of his career and although he may no longer be able to play basketball, he may be looking to remain with the sport. Not many NBA players opt to take ownership of a team, and there is a good chance Bryant will make a similar decision.

“I don’t know if ownership is really the right thing for me,” Bryant told Bloomberg News in a video interview. “I’d go crazy. If a player misses a game because he has a broken fingernail, I’d lose my mind. I wouldn’t be able to take it.”

Michael Jordan is one of few players that chose to own a team after retirement as he is currently an owner for the Charlotte Bobcats. Bryant and Jordan have always been compared, but it looks like Bryant will not be following Jordan’s footsteps into the front office.

At the end of the day, Bryant’s focus is entirely on winning basketball games as a player and guiding this Lakers franchise to its 17th NBA championship.
