Reports: Lakers Considering Bringing Pau Gasol Off Bench

The Los Angeles Lakers are still not sure when Pau Gasol will return from his knee injury, and by the looks of thing it may be a little while. Gasol is dealing with knee tendinitis and on top of that, he has been struggling trying to get adjusted to Mike D’Antoni’s new offense.

In fact, the Los Angeles Times reports that the Lakers are considering playing Gasol in the second unit once he gets back from injury. Gasol has not done a lot for the Lakers this season and something needs to chance in order to jumpstart Gasol’s game. Gasol’s touches have also diminished with Dwight Howard in the lineup, so perhaps putting him on the bench will get him more looks on offense.

The Los Angeles Lakers are considering bringing Pau Gasol off the bench when he returns from knee tendinitis, according to a source.

Gasol has not been playing up to expectations and the Lakers have been looking to put him on the trading block. If Gasol continues to play at a sub-par level, there is a chance the Lakers end up trading him for another power forward.

However, before the Lakers look into any possible trades they will wait and see how Gasol plays with Steve Nash. Nash was reportedly promised that Gasol would not be dealt, and there is a good chance the point guard will help Gasol turn his season around.
