Antawn Jamison Disappointed in Himself For His Reaction to Benching

Antawn JamisonLos Angeles Lakers forward Antawn Jamison has not played in five consecutive games, and the veteran is not pleased with his lack of time on the court. However, Jamison is a consummate professional and he will not let negativity impact the way he or the team approaches the game.

Nevertheless, Jamison expressed his frustration in not being able to play, but after some time looking back at the comments, Jamison regrets what he had said. The OC Register reports that Jamison regrets making those comments about his lack of playing time and he will do whatever it takes to be prepared once coach Mike D’Antoni decides to put him in the game.

“I’m kind of disappointed in myself that I kind of expressed my frustration the way I did, but I’m human,” Jamison said after Sunday’s practice. “We move forward and most importantly, we’ve got a game here and whether it’s me being a cheerleader and smiling or run up and down the court, I’m going to do everything that I can to be positive and make sure we continue to win games.”

Jamison signed a one-year deal with the Lakers over the summer, and he was perhaps the biggest addition the Lakers made to their bench. With a star-studded starting lineup, the Lakers expected Jamison to provide great production for the team off the bench. However, Jamison has not been getting consistent minutes thus far in the season despite his big performances.

With Pau Gasol out of the lineup, Jamison played very well in the starting lineup and he even exploded for 33 points off the bench, in the Lakers’ rout of the Nuggets on Nov. 30.

The Lakers need Jamison on the court if they want to progress as a team and he is still a very talented forward in this league. D’Antoni will hopefully play Jamison some time in the near future, and everyone is hoping Jamison will get some minutes in the Lakers’ next game, which is New Year’s Day 2013.
