The Los Angeles Lakers opened the new year with a two game week and they did not begin 2013 on the right note as they lost both of their games. The Lakers had a very disappointing end to 2012, and everyone was hoping the turn of the calendar would help the Lakers get back on track.
It was another hectic week for the Lakers as they faltered against the Philadelphia 76ers on Jan. 1, and could not beat the Clippers in a much anticipated Battle of Los Angeles on Saturday night. The Lakers are now two games under .500 and things are not looking good.
The team is not playing up to expectations and fans are beyond frustrated with the way the Lakers are playing. It was an upsetting past seven days for the Lakers and here is a week-in-review.

In the Lakers’ first game of the new year, the faced off with the young Philadelphia 76ers team in Los Angeles. The game remained close throughout, but the veteran Lakers team made many mistakes down the stretch which cost them the game. Sixers’ point Jrue Holiday has a magnificent performance and Philadelphia walked off the court winners, 103-99.
In Saturday night’s Battle of Los Angeles, the Lakers faced a double-digit deficit for most of the game, but relied on a fourth quarter rally to get back in striking distance. However, the hole was too deep for the Lakers to crawl out of and their efforts proved to be too little. The Clippers pulled through in the final minutes and sent the Lakers to two games below. 500.
