The Lakers have now lost five straight games after last night’s loss to the Spurs by three points, at 108-105. They now sit at 15-20. The game was played without Dwight, Pau, and Jordan Hill, who are all out with injuries.
On the bright side, bench player Earl Clark had an insane game with 22 points and 13 boards against San Antonio. Tuesday night was also a good showing for the Lakers player; he had five points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Need a refresher on why Clark is in the Purple and Gold? This 6’10″ forward was part of the deal to get Dwight Howard this summer, coming to LA along with Howard and Duhon.
After the game, coach Mike D’Antoni spoke to the media and commented on Clark’s play during the game. Based on D’Antoni’s remarks, it looks like Clark has earned himself some extra minutes in the rotation.
We all know Kobe is a record setter, but Tuesday night he reached a very unusual milestone. Bryant became the NBA’s all-time leader in field goal misses on his final attempt in the Lakers’ loss to the Rockets. During that game, Kobe Bryant missed his 15,296th career field goal attempt and passed John Havlicek for the most field goal attempts missed in NBA history. Bryant most likely set the record because he takes a lot of shots, and with his 16th season underway, has had a lot of opportunities to put up a basket and miss.
