Lakers News: Pau Gasol’s Injury Re-Evaluated; Out Minimum 6-8 Weeks

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Brooklyn NetsAfter being examined by foot specialist Dr. Kenneth Jung, two-time NBA champion Pau Gasol’s foot injury will keep him out for a considerable amount of time per Los Angeles Lakers press release:

Los Angeles Lakers forward/center Pau Gasol, who injured his right foot in Tuesday’s game against the Nets in Brooklyn, returned to Los Angeles from Boston this morning where he was examined by foot specialist Dr. Kenneth Jung.

Jung’s diagnosis confirmed that Gasol has a tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot.  Gasol is expected to be out a minimum of 6-8 weeks.

With Gasol out for a minimum of six weeks to two months will prove to be costly for the Lakers with the team having to lean heavily on Dwight Howard and Earl Clark to shoulder the load in the frontcourt.

Howard’s playing status remains uncertain moving forward with the superstar center dealing with a torn labrum injury. Howard remains a game-time decision heading into Thursday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics despite early reports the perennial All-Star will play.

The Lakers have yet to indicate whether or not the team intends to bring in a player through free agency or via trade to prove insurance for the banged up frontcourt.
