Lakers Nation Week in Review: Feb. 2 – Feb. 9

Los Angeles Lakers v Houston RocketsIt was an impressive week for the Los Angeles Lakers, but it was one that was plagued with injuries. In the past seven days the Lakers have gone 3-1, but they dealt with setbacks to some of their most important players.

Dwight Howard missed most of the week due to his injured shoulder, whereas Pau Gasol suffered a major blow when he was ruled out six to eight week after a right foot tear.

Nevertheless, the Lakers have been playing better and here is the week in review:

Lakers Nation Game Recaps:

The Lakers began the week in Detroit for a game that was much closer than expected. Los Angeles and Detroit were neck and neck for nearly the entire match and the outcome was decided in the final seconds. Despite two missed free throws by Steve Nash in the clutch, the Lakers won 98-97.

Los Angeles made it’s lone visit to Brooklyn on Tuesday night in a game that saw Pau Gasol leave early as a result of a very serious injury. The Lakers and Nets remained close until the final minutes when Kobe Bryant took on his finisher role and guided the team to victory.

The Lakers had their only loss of the week on Thursday when they got embarrassed by their arch rivals, the Boston Celtics. Boston dominated the Lakers for the full 48 minutes and walked away winners, 116-95.

Los Angeles ended the week on a high note after beating the lowly Charlotte Bobcats. Despite the fact that the Lakers were once down by 20 points, they found the courage to overcome the deficit and win on the road.
