During the Celebrity game, ESPN’s Chris Broussard talks to Dwight Howard (who is still playing through a torn shoulder) about the Lakers.

The gist of it? Dwight is concentrating on this season. Broussard had asked Howard about committing to the team. Here’s his answer via the video.

“Right now, I’m committed to this season. I’m committed to this team right now and what we’re trying to accomplish this season. That’s the only thing that matters. I’m gonna put my heart and my soul to the rest of this season so we can come out on top.”

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Philadelphia 76ersBroussard asked about what would go into his decision of where he’ll go the next four or five years. Howard’s answer?

“The only thing right now in my mind is us making it to the playoffs and us winning a championship.

As far as the current play of the Lakers? Broussard asked about the Lakers struggling.

“We still have a chance to get better. We still have a chance to turn this thing around. And I believe we’re gonna do it. We just have to all really get on the same page and get going.”

So what was the problem, Broussard asked?

“We’re not on the same page. We have to be together. We have to be that team. We’re still working on that. It’s a work in progress. We just gotta stay together.”

And Broussard asked about the Lakers’ identity.

“Our identity? We have to figure that out.”

Broussard also talked with Dwight about the Lakers making deals and continued to reiterate that the Lakers are going to get better. They are 8-4 in their last 12 games, although they were blown out by the Clippers on Thursday night. But the fact that Howard talked about the Lakers not having an identity is troubling, especially since Dwight Howard is a free agent after this summer.

It’s also a little troubling that he keeps mentioning “right now” which is not what Lakers fans really want to hear after that disaster in Orlando. Hopefully, the Lakers can turn it around after the All-Star break.

Dwight Howard will be playing in the game despite his hurt shoulder.
