Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Has Technical Foul Rescinded

Kobe BryantLast night against the Denver Nuggets Kobe Bryant was given a technical foul after the end of the first half. Bryant, who was unhappy with what he thought was a missed call on a half-court heave, was initially given his 14th technical of the season. After the game, Bryant said the technical would be rescinded. Looks like he was right.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, the league took back last night’s technical foul.

The NBA rescinded the technical foul assessed to Kobe Bryant in Monday’s 119-108 loss to the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers announced Tuesday.

Bryant has toed the technical foul line before, picking up 16 in 2010-11, 14 in 2009-10, 15 in 2007-08, 14 in 2006-07, 15 in 2005-06, and 14 in 2001-02.

When a player gets his 16th technical for the season, the player receives a one-game suspension. Once the playoffs start, the technical foul count resets.

Kobe Bryant leads the league in technical fouls with 13, even with the technical foul being rescinded. DeMarcus Cousins from the Sacramento Kings is second with 12. Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers and the not-so-nice Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder are tied for third with 11. As far as other Lakers go, Dwight Howard has eight while Metta World Peace has six.

The Lakers play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night.
