VIDEO Recap: Dwight Howard’s Drama With Former Orlando Teammates

dwighthoward2011What a week for the Lakers. Wednesday night, the Lakers overcame a 25 point-deficit to beat the New Orleans Hornets. Friday night, the Lakers did it again, erasing a 15 point deficit to put them into overtime and eventually seal the win. Yet of course, this is Los Angeles and the drama lives on even off the basketball court.

This week in an interview with KCAL9/CBS2, Dwight Howard made an interesting comment when responding to a question about him being criticized for his happy-go-lucky demeanor. Amidst a long winded response to explain how his smiling personality is how he’s always played the game, also came this statement.

“My team in Orlando was a team full of people who nobody wanted…I was the leader and I led that team with a smile on my face.”

Granted, taken out of context, the quote is far less than complimentary and got back to plenty of former teammates (via the media), including Jameer Nelson, Rashard Lewis, and JJ Redick. Even his former coach Stan Van Gundy chimed in. We recap the entire situation below.
