Lakers News: Dwight Howard Talks About Relationship With Kobe Bryant

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Washington WizardsThe Los Angeles Lakers have not met expectations this season and after a very successful off-season, it is disappointing to see the team fight for a playoff spot. Although the team has improved after the All-Star break, there is still no guarantee that it makes the playoffs.

The Lakers started the season off very poorly and it was clear that Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant were not getting along on the court. It took time for the two superstars to get accustomed to each other and to figure out what they needed to do in the Mike D’Antoni system.

However, it seems as though Bryant and Howard are finally beginning to develop some chemistry, and that is evident by the way the Lakers have been playing.

Howard spoke to 790 The Ticket with Dan LeBatard, Stugotz and Stan Van Gundy and he talked about his current relationship with Bryant.

“We’re not best friends but I would say that we understand where we’re at. We’re pretty much on the same page as far as what it’s going to take for us to get to the next level and for us to win. I have to bring that energy and effort every night and because I’m in better shape, I’m able to do that for longer periods.”

Los Angeles is sitting at the eight seed in the Western Conference and there is a chance that the team climbs one or two spots once the regular season ends. Howard is looking more and more like the center that he was in Orlando and as his back gets stronger, so does his game.

Bryant is expected to return from his ankle injury Friday night against the Wizards, a game the Lakers need to win in order to secure a playoff spot.
