Lakers News: Injury Update On Metta World Peace’s Torn Meniscus

It’s been less than a week since Metta World Peace had surgery to repair his torn meniscus, and he was walking around crutch-free at Staples Center last night. But, as ESPN radio host and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Robert Klapper told this site, no crutches is routine after this type of surgery.

World Peace was also seen walking around the Lakers practice facility today where he helped launch a raffle for Bill Sharman’s Lakers championship ring. NBCLA.com’s Shahan Ahmed reported that although Peace would not give an update on his timetable of return, his rehab was going well.

According to Dr. Klapper, there is a possibility for Metta World Peace to recover from his surgery and return by the playoffs, but this is speculative and the Lakers have not made any announcements on Metta World Peace’s return. Yesterday, World Peace tweeted his doctors surprise to see his knees were in such great shape.

Metta’s initial injury occurred during a Lakers loss to the Golden State Warriors, which left him with a cartilage tear in the lateral meniscus of his left knee. Including that game, the Lakers have gone 3-2 without him. The Lakers have surely missed his defensive presence on the court, but they sure looked strong in their win over the Dallas Mavericks last night.
