VIDEO: Mike D’Antoni Reacts To Utah’s Loss, Talks Spurs Match-Up

Mike D'Antoni jpegAfter the Utah Jazz lost to Memphis Wednesday night, the Lakers made the playoffs before tip-off against the Houston Rockets. Metta World Peace joked about how he tried not to “peek” at Utah’s score, but couldn’t help it. He said the news definitely made the team more relaxed, which might have contributed to their lackadaisical play in the first half. Mike D’Antoni, though, was not shy with his reaction.

“I’m going ‘Woah thank goodness!’ So to be perfectly honest I was like ‘Wow thank gosh!’ because I would have died out there if that shot had gone in and we weren’t in the playoffs. They would have carried me right off.”

The Lakers will go on the road to face the San Antonio Spurs for the first game of the first round of the playoffs Sunday afternoon. D’Antoni talked about the Spurs many strengths.

“They just know how to play, and they play hard and Pop does an unbelievable job of getting them playing together as a group….Duncan, inside and all of what he does, Tony Parker in the open court, and all he does in the pick and rolls and the shooters.”
