Shaw was an assistant under head coach Phil Jackson for seven seasons and played for the team for four seasons. In his entire Lakers career, Shaw was apart of five championships before leaving the organization to join the Pacers.

The 76ers and former head coach Doug Collins mutually agreed to party ways after three seasons and Collins will take on a consulting role with the team.

Highly regarded in the coaching world, Shaw was overlooked by the Lakers after Jackson’s departure due to their preference to move-on from the triangle offense.

If Shaw does in fact get the job with the 76ers, it will be interesting if the team decides to re-sign Andrew Bynum since they have history from their time with the Lakers.
