Newly hired Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Mike Brown has been granted permission by the Lakers to interview developmental coach Phil Handy.
Brown hired Handy during the 2011-12 season, and he’s quickly become a favorite amongst Lakers players. Mark Medina of InsideSoCal.com had the story first:
“The Cleveland Cavaliers recently asked and received permission from the Lakers to talk with player development coach Phil Handy about possibly joining Mike Brown’s coaching staff, said Lakers spokesman John Black”.
In the past week, Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni has re-tooled the Lakers staff since he decided to keep most of the assistant coaches when he joined the team early in the season.

Handy’s duties with the Lakers entailed working out players during practice and prior to the game, especially players like Steve Nash and Dwight Howard.
It seems like Handy would jump at a chance to re-unite with Brown in Cleveland, and D’Antoni will continue to tinker with the Lakers coaching staff.
