Phil Jackson Discusses Shaq, Kobe, And Jordan In TNT Interview

USA TodayAfter the Pacers win over the Miami Heat, TNT’s Rachel Nichols was able to have a one-on-one with ex-Lakers coach Phil Jackson

During the interview, Jackson touched on myriad topics. He let Nichols know that there is zero chance that he’ll coach again, but said that if a team is willing to take a chance, he could see him self in some kind of basketball operations role. He noted that it would be a big chance considering that it’s something that he hasn’t done before.

Jackson then went on to provide some thoughts on Miami Heat head coach Erik Spolestra, saying that he likes his calm demeanor and that he’s doing a great job coaching a collection of superstars.

Nichols then asked the ubiquitous Kobe v. Jordan question. While Phil didn’t give an answer about who was better between the two, he did have some interesting words about Kobe.

“Kobe, when he gets on fire, is probably one of the hottest players I’ve ever seen.”

Jackson pointed out Kobe’s 81 point game as evidence, but also said that when he tries to find his hot streaks it could be detrimental to the team. After the Kobe v. Jordan stuff, Jackson was asked about Kobe and Shaq and had some kind words to say about the big fella.

“He’s the best center I’ve ever coached. I mean, his power and dominance was just remarkable.
