Once five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant went down with a torn Achilles tendon in one of the last games of the NBA regular season for the Los Angeles Lakers, there were mixed emotions circulating around the city of Los Angeles.
With Kobe’s impressive track record of bouncing back and playing through injuries, diehard Lakers fans and avid Kobe admirers believe he’d simply undergo surgery, recover and return to form as one of the elite players in the NBA. Although Kobe has the reputation of battling through injuries and embracing any and every challenge that comes his way, the latest injury could end his career or at least his career as a member of the elite class in the league.
Apparently, head coach Mike D’Antoni believes Kobe will make a full recovery and return to form once able to get back on the floor for the Lakers next season. An optimistic view point from a coach that hasn’t had much to be optimistic about since signing with the Lakers, but there’s no question if anyone can bounce back from an Achilles injury, it’s Kobe.
The debate will rage about Kobe’s immediate future and whether or not the superstar can fully recover, but for the time being the dedicated fans and his head coach will support and continue to have faith in arguably one of the greatest players in NBA history.
