Lakers News: Pau Gasol Fine With Dwight Howard Testing Free Agency

A lot has been made of Dwight Howard testing the free agent waters this summer, and whether or not he should inform the Lakers if he intends on staying or leaving. Free agency is a right the players have, and Howard’s teammate, Pau Gasol, is okay with that.

In a report from Sam Amick of USA Today, Gasol reportedly says it’s Howard’s perogative to test free agency, so the other players should be supportive.

“Dwight is looking at his options, and there’s nothing wrong with that, I guess. I’m not him. I’m not in his position, but I guess it all starts with his decision and I’m sure the franchise is waiting to see whether he decides to sign (with the Lakers) or sign with somebody else, I guess.”

Even though Gasol remains supportive, it doesn’t sound like he’s too keen on the idea of Dwight leaving town. He does make it clear that he understands Dwight’s position, and that the Lakers are still left waiting for him to decide whether or not he’ll return.

So will Dwight Howard be a Laker next season? It seems that Pau, just like the rest of us, is just going to have to wait and see.
