The NBA Finals has been forced to a Game 7 with the defending NBA champion Miami Heat pulling out a thrilling victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night in South Beach, tying up the series at three games apiece. Rumor has it that Dwight Howard wasn’t too interested in what was going on, and could care less about watching the NBA Finals.
Sources inside the restaurant tell us … The L.A. Lakers star (at least for now) was nowhere near the TV during the game … and focused on dinner with his buddies the entire time.
On his way out of the restaurant, Dwight explained why he chose not to watch — telling us, “I’m not watching … I’m not playing so ain’t no need to be [watching].”
He added, “I don’t want to see nobody win a championship.”
Lakers Nation reacted to a poll question asking who is more annoying, the Clippers or Celtics? 54 percent of Lakers Nation believed that the Clippers were the more annoying team, likely due to the fact that they are interested in acquiring Laker center Dwight Howard in an attempt to pair he and Chris Paul together (the original plan of the Lakers).
Long-time rivals Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan starred in a commercial featured by Sprite in the late 90s, showing that they have great on camera chemistry despite their obvious competitive disliking for each other on the basketball court.
Lakers Nation celebrated the birthday of the late George Mikan on Tuesday. Mikan is noted as one of the greatest Lakers of all time, starring as the key player on some of the early championship teams in Minneapolis. Mikan was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1959 and named a member of the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1996. He passed away in 2005 after a long-term fight with diabetes.
