Lakers News: Lakers Won’t Bring Back Devin Ebanks, Chris Duhon

The Lakers announced this afternoon that they wouldn’t be bringing back forward Devin Ebanks or point guard Chris Duhon in the 2013-14 season.

Ebanks made it clear at his exit interview that he would pursue other teams while Duhon had his $3.9 million non-guaranteed. Kevin Ding of the OC Register first reported the news this afternoon:

With all the Lakers injuries last season, Ebanks wasn’t able to crack head coach Mike D’Antoni’s rotation as he only averaged 3.4 points in only 19 games last season. Ebanks fall from starting small forward in the 2012 season to bench warmer can largely be attributed to the DUI he received early last season.

Duhon, acquired in the Dwight Howard trade last off-season, was the Lakers third point guard, but with the injuries to Steve Nash and Steve Blake, saw more playing time then he originally anticipated.

While Ebanks might get another shot with a young team taking a low-risk on him, Duhon might be relegated to playing overseas or becoming an assistant coach with another team.
