Kobe Bryant Tweets ‘There Is Only One Lakers’ As Free Agency Begins

When Kobe Bryant takes to social media, people pay attention. Whether he’s live tweeting a Lakers playoff game or posting recovery updates on instagram, Kobe has proven himself to be the king of all things social media.

With free agency officially starting at 9PM Pacific Time (12AM ET) on Sunday night/Monday morning, the rush to persuade the top free agents to stay or leave began, and the Black Mamba made a simple but effective sales pitch on twitter:

It is no secret that the Lakers top priority is keeping All-Star center Dwight Howard with the organization. Phil Jackson has already had a word with Howard and Dwight seems willing to listen to the Zen Master.

kobebryant2001Kobe and Dwight may not have had the best relationship in their first season together, but Bryant definitely is making no bones about whether or not he wants the big man to stay.

Dwight has already began his free agency journey as the Houston Rockets contingency flew into Los Angeles to meet with Howard. He will also meet with representatives from the Dallas Mavericks, Golden St. Warriors, and Atlanta Hawks before meeting with the Lakers last.

Even with Dwight’s return being uncertain, the Lakers have already started mulling around in free agency.

The Lakers have already contacted former New York Knick Chris Copeland who was a huge energy boost for the Knicks this postseason. In addition, the Lakers have also expressed interest in a couple of former Los Angeles area high school standouts in Chase Budinger and former Laker Jordan Farmar.

It is good to see the Lakers exploring all options in free agency. Like Kobe said, there is only one Lakers, and people will always want to play for the purple and gold.
