Lakers News: Steve Nash Not Thinking About Retirement Date

stevenashSteve Nash will be 40-years-old midway into the 2013-14 season, but the Hall of Fame bound point guard does not want to talk about his retirement.

ESPN LA writes that Nash is solely focused on this upcoming season, and he will do what it takes to help the Lakers succeed. However, Nash is not thinking about his retirement plans and is taking his career one season at a time.

“I don’t really want to think about it.”

“I want to concentrate on this season and have a great season and then next year I’ll worry about next year. After that there’s a chance I could keep playing, but I’m totally open to not playing or playing again and I don’t really want to predict. I just want to concentrate on the now and worry about the future when it arrives.”

Nash faced a plethora of injuries in his first run with the Lakers and never got a chance to showcase his skills for the team. However, after a summer to rest and recovery from the setbacks, Nash is poised for a very productive campaign.

The Lakers have Nash under contract for two more seasons, and he is just one of the few names in the books before the summer of 2014. Los Angeles will do what it takes to build a championship contender next offseason, and Nash hopes to still be playing at a high level for, hopefully, another title run.
