Lakers Officially Announce Signing Of Shooting Guard Xavier Henry

The Lakers have officially announced the signing of Xavier Henry, a shooting guard who will be heading into his fourth year in the NBA. There were rumors on Wednesday suggesting that the Lakers were interested in the swingman out of Kansas, and now he’s officially been signed to the Lakers. The terms of the agreement were not released.

Henry averaged 3.9 points and 1.8 points in 12.5 minutes per game with the Hornets last season. Over the course of his career, Henry has shoot 40 percent from three point range, and could be useful in Mike D’Antoni’s system. Henry left Kansas after one year. He showed flashes of being able to score high numbers (27 in his first collegiate game, and was the first Jayhawk freshman since Paul Pierce to score at least 30 in a game), but left college a bit raw on both sides of the floor and hasn’t been able to find his way into a regular rotation.

Henry is now the 14th player signed to the Lakers roster, with the 15th expected to be rookie Ryan Kelly. The Lakers will carry 13-15 on their roster during the season, but expect to invite somewhere between 16-20 players to training camp.

The Lakers recently signed Shawne Williams and have also expressed interest in both Lou Amundson and Sebastian Telfair.
