VIDEO: Pau Gasol Shaves His Beard For First Time After Nine Years

Earlier this summer, Pau Gasol and brother Marc decided to make a friendly wager. The brothers pitted teams of Memphis kids against each other to see which team would lose the most weight. Each team was coached by one of the Gasol brothers — and Pau’s team lost.

The wager that Pau and Marc made was that the lose would have to shave off his beard, and earlier today Pau owned up to his bet and completely shaved off his beard, something he hadn’t done in nearly nine years.

The wager was called the Healthy Challenge 2013 to help promote healthier lifestyles among children around the world. The challenge lasted from early June to August 2, and it’s something that Pau and Marc had been talking about doing for a while, according to Mark Medina.

“It’s something me and Marc wanted to do for a while,” said Pau. “We were looking for a way to use our abilities off the court to do good for the community and we feel this was the best way for us to give back. It’s a good way for us to help kids around the world.”

Below are four of the six videos that Pau posted on YouTube, with the first being the before and the last being the finished product. He narrates the videos in both Spanish and English.
