On Thursday afternoon, Los Angeles Lakers reporter Mike Trudell revealed on Twitter that Kobe Bryant went out of the country for an undisclosed medical procedure. While the Lakers did not comment, head coach Mike D’Antoni said the procedure was originally planned in August, but Bryant decided to do it now.

While the procedure was unrelated to his Achilles, there were immediate concerns for the Lakers superstar. Fortunately, Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that Bryant is traveling to Germany for another round of platelet-rich plasma therapy on his right knee. This is the same procedure Bryant made very popular back in the summer of 2011 that ultimately rejuvenated his career.

With the procedure needing little recovery time, the platelet-rich plasma therapy on Bryant’s right knee will not delay his return. Bryant made headlines yesterday when he was seen shooting on his tiptoes and jogging during practice. With his Achilles improving, Steve Nash thinks Kobe will return some time between the start of the season and Thanksgiving.
