Lakers News: D’Antoni Expects Steve Nash To Be Out Another 10 Days

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash hasn’t played since he had to leave the floor against the Minnesota Timberwolves on November 10 and it started retirement talks for the 39-year-old guard.

Nash hasn’t looked comfortable the entire season as he’s shooting just 26 percent from the field and averaging a pathetic 6.7 points and 4.8 assists in six games. However, according to Serena Winters of Lakers Nation, head coach Mike D’Antoni says Nash could be returning shortly:

Things got so bad for Nash that it was reported that he was contemplating medical retirement, but all indications are that he’ll try and get back on the floor for the Lakers. Coming into the season, Nash said on several occasions that he owed it to the Lakers and Laker fans to have a productive season after a horrible 2012-13 campaign.

In his absence, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar have filled in admirably with Blake averaging close to 12 assists in the last four games. When Nash does return, it’s possible it’s in a reserve role as D’Antoni said coming into the season that he wanted to limit his minutes regardless. Lakers reporter Mike Trudell also mentioned that Nash will join the Lakers after their three-game east coast trip next week. Still, at his advanced age, Nash can provide solid minutes for the team, but it’s undecided in what capacity it’ll be in. _______________________________________________________________________________
