Ex-NFL Star Jim Brown Is Not The Biggest Kobe Bryant Fan

On Tuesday night, ex-NFL star running back Jim Brown made an appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show and was asked about the likes of Kobe Bryant, who has recently made his return to the NBA after tearing his Achilles tendon in April of this year.

Brown didn’t have the kindest words for Bryant as his first words about the Lakers superstar were, “He threw Shaq under the bus.” Brown has always been outspoken and thought about making a return to the NFL when Franco Harris was close to breaking his all-time rushing record because Brown didn’t like Harris’ running style.

Brown doesn’t seem particularly fond of the way Bryant has gone about handling conflict in the past, and has attributed Bryant’s way of going about things to his background, according to Yahoo! Sports.

“He is somewhat confused about culture because he was brought up in another country so it doesn’t quite fit (with) what’s happening in America.” […]

“In the days when we had a summit and we called the top black athletes together to talk to Muhammad Ali about his status with the armed forces, there were some athletes we didn’t call. So if I had to call that summit all over, there would be some athletes I wouldn’t call. And Kobe would be one of them.”

Since retirement, Brown has appeared in multiple films and has founded the Amer-I-Can foundation to help inner-city youth in Los Angeles and Cleveland. While Brown admitted that he believes that he thinks Bryant is an unbelievable athlete, it’s clear that he isn’t a fan of Bryant off the floor.
