Lakers News: Jordan Farmar Out At Least Another Week With Injury

The backcourt remains extremely thin for the Los Angeles Lakers after the team completed their second game of a back-to-back on Tuesday, in a win against the Memphis Grizzlies. Monday, the Lakers received a bit of false hope after it was reported that Farmar was “close” to returning and had been ramping up his individual workouts to prepare himself for Friday, in case he was cleared to play against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

With him scheduled to be reevaluated by Dr. Luga Podesta of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the Lakers hoped for good news. Unfortunately for the Lakers, according to a press release, Farmar will be out at least another week, as his ultrasound showed that his torn left hamstring is still not healed. The results did show progress, and his next evaluation is scheduled for Christmas Eve, December 24, at which time another update will be issued. At minimum, Farmar will miss the Lakers upcoming three games. At the earliest, Farmar could return for the Lakers vs. Miami Heat game on Christmas Day.

With Steve Blake and Steve Nash also out, Kobe Bryant has had to step up in the point guard position. Over the past four games, Bryant has struggled in the facilitator role, lacking rhythm and committing turnovers, as to be expected in just six games back since the tearing of his Achilles. There’s been little updates on the status of Steve Nash, who’s been rehabilitating in Vancouver. Lakers reporter Mike Trudell reported today that we may get an update on Nash tomorrow.
