Lakers News: Steve Nash Out Four More Weeks With Back Injury

On November 10, Steve Nash suffered a setback after being diagnosed with nerve root irritation in his back. While the recovery timetable was initially two weeks, Nash has been out for more than a month. Although he practiced before the Lakers’ road trip, it appears he will be out much longer.

After the Los Angeles Lakers received news that Kobe Bryant will be out six weeks with a knee fracture, Nash will need an additional four weeks before being re-evaluated again according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Since suffering the leg fracture in his first season with the Lakers, Nash has been unable to get healthy. While the two-time MVP worked vigorously during the off-season to get himself back in shape, he dealt with numerous nagging injuries during training camp that carried into the season.

Although there have been rumors about Nash retiring, he has stated numerous times that he has no intentions to do so and wants to play out the remainder of his contract. With Nash out at least four more weeks, Xavier Henry will be the Lakers’ point guard moving forward until Jordan Farmar or Steve Blake return from their own injuries.
