Injuries continue to pile up for the Los Angeles Lakers with Kobe Bryant being the latest to go down for a considerable amount of time. Fortunately, the Lakers might be able to get Jordan Farmar back sooner than expected according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com via Twitter:

Once Bryant was officially ruled out for six weeks, the Lakers were forced to make a move and as a result signed former lottery pick Kendall Marshall from D-League. It remains to be seen how much head coach Mike D’Antoni will use Marshall moving forward, but having the former North Carolina on the bench definitely gives the team some insurance with the injuries really taking a toll on this team.

Although Farmar appears to be the verge of returning, the team will likely be without Steve Blake for at least another month with the elbow injury. Blake played well in relief of Nash and without Bryant on the floor.

As for Steve Nash, the two-time NBA MVP will be out another month with the nerve root irritation. It seems to be more of the same with Nash’s injury situation as his return date continues to get pushed back with every update on his progress. It may be only a matter of time before Nash is medically forced into retirement, but the team will hold out hope that he can play out the season upon his return.
