Lakers-Celtics Rivalry: Kurt Rambis Takes A Shot At Larry Bird

Kurt Rambis and Larry BirdDuring the Showtime era of the Los Angeles Lakers, the rivalry with the Larry Bird’s Boston Celtics was legendary and without a doubt the highlight of the season every time these two bitter rivals went head-to-head.

Although a lot has changed since the Showtime era and renewed rivalry with Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett has passed, current assistant coach and former player, Kurt Rambis, proved the hatred for the Celtics is still alive and well. As one of the many Lakers that got into physical altercations with the Celtics back in the day, Rambis is no stranger to fights in the NBA and had no problem expressing no love for Bird on Friday in Boston.

While Nick Young was talking to the media and brought up Bird, Rambis walked by and had to say a little something about his former rival:

 

Although clearly joking, there’s definitely no love lost between the current assistant and former player. Here’s a perfect example of why Rambis isn’t a fan of Bird or the Celtics:

Ironically enough, it was Bird that helped Rambis off the floor after Kevin McHale clotheslined him on the way the basket.
