La La Thinks Carmelo Anthony Will ‘Definitely’ Stay In New York

NBA: Indiana Pacers at New York Knicks

Rumors have been surrounding Carmelo Anthony’s desire to test free agency next season. While everyone is speculating where he will sign, the latest news comes from a source who arguably has more inside information on Melo than most affiliated with the Knicks or even the NBA for that matter: his wife, La La Anthony.

In an interview with Bravo TV’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Anthony’s wife seemed to be fairly adamant in her claims that her husband will remain a Knick via ESPN New York:

“I definitely think he will stay. I know that he wants to stay and I support him wherever he wants to go.”

The Knicks are amidst an extremely disappointing season despite the hype surrounding this New York team. The squad is 17-27, leading many to believe that Anthony will take less money in order to sign with another team.

There is one thing missing from Anthony’s plethora of basketball achievements and is arguably the most crucial: a championship ring. Melo has made it very clear throughout the years that he will do whatever it takes to win that championship title, as seen through his departure from the Nuggets in 2011. His years with the Knicks have had glimmers of hope for the star to reach his goal, but in this disappointing 2013-2014 season, Anthony will search elsewhere to achieve that championship win.

The Lakers have been rumored to be a potential destination for this small forward. The Chicago Bulls and Dallas Mavericks are the other teams that may have the salary-cap space to acquire Anthony this next off season. In his 11th season in the NBA, Anthony is averaging 27.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
