NBA Trade Rumors: Toronto Raptors Still Willing To Deal Kyle Lowry

Kyle Lowry has been one of the more consistent players on an over-achieving Toronto Raptors squad. Ever since the Raptors traded All-Star Rudy Gay to the Kings, Lowry has been the center of trade talks, with many NBA teams expecting the Raptors to tank for a high draft pick in a loaded 2014 Draft.

However, with Lowry’s surprising All-Star level play, the Raptors are in a tough position of deciding to trade their young star or risk losing him for nothing. With Lowry on a bargain deal, only making six million this season, combined with his recent stellar play, there is quite a large interest in teams trying to find that one missing piece.

According to Sports Illustrated, despite Lowry’s play, the Raptors are still open to trading him:

Rather than face the possibility that he could sign elsewhere and cost the Raptors an asset in the process, Toronto at the very least remains open to the possibility of trading him — no matter the good he’s done for the franchise since Gay’s departure.

Despite the Lakers having four point guards listed on the roster, they could be heavily interested in a young player with Lowry’s skill set. The team has been searching for a reliable point guard and thought they found their answer when they signed two-time MVP Steve Nash last season. However, Nash has been hampered by injuries since he broke his leg in the second game last season and turns 40 in February.

While the Lakers certainly do not have enough assets to intrigue the Raptors, they could be players should Lowry make it to free agency. Lowry could help add some stability to a position that the Lakers have been desperately trying to fix.
