Lakers Injury News: Steve Nash Disputes Injury Story, Won’t Play Friday

Steve Nash

Steve Nash has not suited up for the Lakers since November. He has been working out recently and looks to be returning soon, but apparently hit a setback, tweaking his back. Nash, spoke to the OC Register’s Janis Carr and disputed that report:

With Nash’s history of back problems, and his advancing age, the story was not too far-fetched to believe, but it is good news to hear that Nash didn’t get hurt by something as basic as getting out of bed.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, this did not improve Nash’s status for Friday night’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats as Nash will miss that game as well:

It was foolish to assume that Nash would return without a couple of practices under his belt to first to see how his body responds. With so many injuries, the Lakers would be happy to see any of their hurt players return. With Kobe Bryant out for at least another three weeks, the Lakers could really use Nash’s leadership and veteran presence in the locker room.

Kendall Marshall has played exceptionally well in the absence of Nash and the rest of the Laker point guards, but the sooner he can return, the better for the Lakers.
