VIDEO: Magic Johnson Says ‘Defense Wins Championships’ On Arsenio

Magic Arsenio

Over the last two years, Magic Johnson has been highly critical of the Los Angeles Lakers while the team tries to get things back on track. Not only has Dr. Jerry Buss passed away and Dwight Howard jumped ship for the Houston Rockets, but the team has been torn to shreds due to injuries, making it incredibly difficult to win games consistently this season.

After a lot of backlash following his latest rant about the Lakers on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Magic promised to dial it back a bit in terms of criticizing his former team and did just that on Arsenio last night.

Arsenio Hall asked a few questions about the Lakers, but Magic admitted that he’s promised not to take shots at the team. Despite his promise, Magic did have some interesting things to say, claiming that the Lakers don’t like him talking the truth and that ultimately defense wins championships.

Magic gave the example of the Seattle Seahawks destroying the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl when talking about the important of defense.
