NBA Rumors: Knicks Still Interested In Trading For Kyle Lowry?

The New York Knicks are in desperation mode at this point in the season with a 20-32 record and hope for a playoff spot in a weak Eastern Conference quickly starting to disappear.

Fortunately for New York, Carmelo Anthony appears ready to stay long-term and the team may be willing to wheel and deal before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 20.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Knicks are still trying to lure Kyle Lowry away from the Toronto Raptors via trade:

With the NBA trade deadline three days away, the Knicks continue to try to engage the Raptors in an attempt to acquire point guard Kyle Lowry, according to league sources.

The Knicks are offering packages including Iman Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Beno Udrih, sources say.

With reports surfacing last week about the Raptors being content with keeping Lowry, it remains to be seen if this team on the rise will ultimately pull the trigger before the deadline.

Currently, the Raptors are sitting in third place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 28-24. Along with seemingly finding a home in Toronto, Lowry is having arguably the best year of his NBA career averaging a career-high 16.7 points and 7.6 assists per game while shooting 38.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Although Lowry would be an ideal addition to a struggling Knicks squad, New York is also targeting a few other point guards including Andre Miller and Jeff Teague. Lowry and Teague are without a doubt the top two targets for New York, but Miller may end up being the backup plan.
