Lakers News: Mitch Kupchak Says Magic Johnson Is ‘A Fan At Heart’

Magic Johnson was one of the greatest Lakers to ever wear the purple and gold, helping the Showtime Lakers win five NBA championships.

Recently, the Lakers and Magic have had a shaky relationship, with Magic voicing his displeasure with Jim Buss and the team over Twitter. However, after Magic was called out by fans for his comments of the team, Magic took to Twitter to say he would no longer send out negative tweets and would be willing to help the Lakers pitch to free agents this offseason.

With the trade deadline just ended, GM Mitch Kupchak took some time to talk to reporters and had some words to say about Magic Johnson via Lakers Reporter Mike Trudell:

After all the negativity surrounding the team and Magic, Mitch is wisely reaching out to the five-time champion:

Magic has always been an emotional person since his playing days in the ’80s and is not one to cover his emotions. While Jim and Magic may not get along, the Lakers and Magic will forever go hand in hand. Magic seems to have moved on from his displeasure with the front office and seems to be more than willing to help the team out. With all the disappointments over the past few seasons, maybe the Lakers could use some magic on their side.
